How to Increase Your Sales
Provide Detailed Information
The more info you include, the better your chances of making a sale.
When uploading images, you’ll need to fill out required fields, such as:
- Type of production (e.g. Horticulture, tomatoes)
- Location (e.g. Ingham, Northeast QLD)
You can also add extra details like:
- Sub-variety / strain (e.g. Roma tomatoes, Braford cattle)
- Irrigation or fertiliser used
- Age of animals or crops
- Machinery shown
- Crop rotation or farming methods
- And Soil type (we provide simple guidelines about how to identify the major Aussie soil types commonly found in ag production)
These details help buyers find exactly what they’re looking for.
(Request our “Images Wanted” list to get even more tips.)
Model and Property Release Forms
When Are They Needed?
If your image includes recognisable people or private property, you must get a signed release form before submitting.
Why? Because:
- It’s the law for commercial use
- Buyers often need legal clearance for advertising
Images with signed releases are more valuable and more likely to sell.
How Image Pricing Works
Technical Images (Primary Production)
Pricing is based on:
- Image size and resolution
- Intended use (e.g. private, editorial, commercial)
Examples:
- A low-res image for private use might sell for AU$7.50
- A medium-res image for use by a business in a brochure may sell for as little as AU$22.50
- But an extra large version for a national ad campaign could sell for hundreds or even thousands
Note: Lower-cost images usually sell more frequently.
Artistic Images (Rural Life)
You set the price – anywhere from AU$1 to AU$10,000.
If you have a special image or price in mind, reach out to us – we’d love to hear your reasoning.
What You Earn from Sales
One of our key aims is to support photographers, so you will earn the majority of every sale, whether your image is sold once or many times.
- Technical Images: You earn from 65% of the sale price, and 80% for exclusive licenses*
- Artistic Images: You earn 80-90% of the sale price
*Exclusive image sales (sold only once) will attract premium prices and maximise your royalty payment.
